"Looking Back was born out of something deeply personal. An exploration of my fractured relationship with my father and the shifting emotions I’ve felt toward him over the years. The film follows a troubled young man on a journey fueled by anger, only to find that a single act of kindness has the power to change his course. At its heart, this story is about how resentment can shape us, but also how small, unexpected moments can crack open the possibility of something different.
This project started as part of the 48 Hour Film Project. A whirlwind of creativity, problem-solving, and raw instinct. But after the initial cut, I knew I wasn’t done with it. Over the following months, I revisited the footage, refined the sound mix, and adjusted the pacing to align more closely with my original vision. It was an opportunity not just to shape the film, but to reflect on the emotions that had inspired it in the first place.
For me, Looking Back isn’t just about one man’s journey, it’s about the weight of unresolved emotions and the unexpected ways we find clarity. Making this film was cathartic, challenging, and ultimately, a way to say something I hadn’t found words for before."
